FAQ

Who can participate in Cistercian Mentors?

The focal group of this program are juniors and recently solemnly professed, but any member of our Cistercian communities who could benefit from it is welcome on board!

What kind of responses can we write?

We initially proposed to choose a short passage from the text, and write a brief response (no more than 100 or 150 words) to be posted on the “Bits and Pieces” section. You can see some samples on https://cistercian-mentors.webnode.es/bits-pieces/ We think this can be a good possibility, especially for those who are a little short on time with too many pressing duties. The second possibility is to write a longer commentary. It does not have to be too long. Just be creative!

What is the time frame?

Every 3 months we will propose a chapter or sermon by a Cistercian Father or Mother to be read by all the participants. We will also send you an introduction to the text and a more practical application of it, focusing on some aspect of our monastic life.

Where should I start?

When a new person joins Cistercian Mentors, he or she should start reading and reflecting on the last chapter of the program which was distributed to the group. The chapters are independent. Anyone can join in at their convenience, or leave the boat and, hopefully, come back, as time allows. But we read, reflect and share as a group. No matter at what point you started; you are welcome!
